If you want to love your work, you have to test the waters as much as possible. A big piece of testing the waters is talking to people who are in the positions you are considering.

I shared some big news last week that I'm working at the Washington Waldorf School. A big piece of finding out if the position would be a good fit was talking to the old college advisor.

I had to ask the tough questions such as, "Is the college advisor really a part-time position or will I be paid part-time and working full-time hours?"

Obviously her answers satisfied my curiosity, and now that I'm working at the school, I can assure you that they were spot-on.
If you're looking to make a career change, what conversations do you need to have in order to gain more clarity? What questions do you need to ask?
